Ron Paul Teaches FED Chairman Ben Bernanke
Filed Under Economics, Federal Reserve, Ron Paul | 1 Comment
That’s right Ben, the FED sucks and it is congress’s job to abolish it and put in place a gold standard. Fortunately for legal counterfeiters at the Federal Reserve, 95% of the congress is too stupid and immoral to be willing to take on the task.
Of course it should be the American voter to fix that, but maybe 95% of them are also too stupid and immoral to take on the task.
As usual, Ron Paul’s argument is factual and brilliantly expressed. You can tell Ben Bernanke knows it too since he is nodding his head in agreement. As for the rest of the suits in the room, they are probably thinking more about what they are going to have for lunch or plotting their next insult on the American taxpayer.

U.S. Northern Command, Canada Command establish new bilateral Civil Assistance Plan
U.S. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, and Canadian Air Force Lt.-Gen. Marc Dumais, commander of Canada Command signed the deal.
Which brings up the question, where in the U.S. Constitution does it authorize the military to make treaties and deals committing soldiers to support another government in its internal affairs? More evidence (as if there wasn’t already enough) that the Constitution is a dead letter as far as D.C. and the military establishments are concerned.
The U.S. Constitution, the rule of law that was supposed to limit the power of the federal government has all but been replaced by a long set of Presidential Directives claiming in effect that the President has the power to declare what a “civil emergency†is (or any emergency anywhere in the world is for that matter) and seemingly authorizing himself to do anything he wants that comes to his head without debate or the approval of any other branch of the government.
If the terrible John Warner Defense Appropriation Act effectively nullified the Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act allowing the federal government arbitrary power to “employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to… restore public order and enforce the laws of the United Statesâ€, then this “bilateral military plan†adds a whole new terrifying twist to the omnipotent federal police state.

Ron Paul bows out of Houston Presidential Summit non-debate
Filed Under Republican Party, Ron Paul | Leave a Comment
The Houston Chronical reports that Ron Paul has withdrawn from the America’s Energy Future: Houston’s Presidential Summit.
The summit which was originally promoted as a debate between presidential candidates changed it’s format as the only candidates that showed interest in attending were Ron Paul and Hillary Clinton.
Ron Paul spokesman Jesse Benton said “Since it’s no longer a debate, Ron is going to stay in Washington and make his votes,”
Too bad, a debate on energy policy would between Hillary and Ron would be interesting, interesting in the fact that Ron Paul would wipe the floor with Hillary.

For decades we have welcomed new immigrants to our American “melting pot”. We respect those who come here peacefully to pursue their American Dream. But Americans have noticed lately that modern problems associated with illegal immigration are at a crisis point. Taxpayers are now suffering the consequences.

Ron Paul - Second Amendment Battle in DC

Ron Paul’s Texas Straight Talk Column
February 11, 2008
As a United States Congressman, I take my oath to uphold all of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights very seriously. Unfortunately, too many in Washington DC believe they can pick-and-choose which provisions of the constitution they can uphold. For example, many politicians, judges, and bureaucrats believe they have the power to disregard our right to own guns, even though the second amendment explicitly guarantees the people’s right to “keep and bear arms.”
Like the Founding Fathers, I believe that the right to keep and bear arms is fundamental to a free society. Where law-abiding citizens are most freely allowed to defend themselves, communities are safer, while crime rises when law-abiding people’s access to firearms is restricted. Gun laws only disarm those who respect the law. Those with criminal tendencies do not turn in their weapons and reform their ways because government bureaucrats enact statutes that tell them to. Gun control laws turn peaceful citizens into sitting ducks for criminals to prey upon.

The Constitution guarantees Americans the right to be secure against all unreasonable seizures. My home state of Texas is unfortunately planning on some very unreasonable seizures of land with the monstrous Trans Texas Corridor highway project. The TTC plans call for a highway to cut through about 4,000 Texas miles, and with separate rail lines for passenger and freight, a multi-lane highway with separate truck lanes, utility and cable easements, this highway could be as wide as 1200 feet across. In the end this project would consume something like half a million acres of land in Texas . However, since the exact path of the road has not been determined, it is putting much more acreage in jeopardy, and in limbo.
Taking land is destructive enough. But the perpetual threat of taking an undetermined amount of land is hanging over the heads of millions of Texans and putting their lives at a standstill. Land is a store of wealth and a source of stability. This highway project is tragically threatening that for so many Texans.

The Illogic of Stimulus Packages
Filed Under Economics, Federal Reserve, National, Taxation | Leave a Comment
“We are in our present position because government has burdened us with taxes, spending, debt, regulations, subsidies, guarantees (to lenders, for example), trade restrictions, fiat money, and other impositions. Between the endless domestic schemes and war, we are being crushed by the weight of the state. We don’t need a stimulus. We need freedom.”
The Goal Is Freedom: An Unstimulating Idea

“It’s like taking a bucket of water from the deep end of a pool and dumping it into the shallow end. Funny thing — the water in the shallow end doesn’t get any deeper.”
That’s how George Mason University economist Russell Roberts describes the logic — rather, illogic — of the economic “stimulus” proposals that everyone and his uncle are proposing. If we needed further demonstration of the folly that is the American political-economic system, there it is. The leaders of the interventionist state and the candidates who aspire to command it will continue to produce this inanity until people see it for the balderdash it is and resoundingly reject it.
