Mugabe - Fiat Money and Tyranny

An interesting short news article in The First Post reveals this latest domestic policy from Zimbabwe’s mass murdering president Mugabe:

“Police officers throughout Zimbabwe have now been authorised to use firearms against civilians whenever violence erupts on the streets. They have been told that if they shoot a civilian dead they will not face a murder charge.”

Maybe the same old news from Zimbabwe, as Mugabe and his government does what all tyrannical regimes do to hang on to power as their economy is self destructing before their eyes, they continue killing their opposition in a vain attempt to quell growing unrest. But the most telling part about how Mugabe keeps his power is in the last two paragraphs of the article:

“In the memo - reported in this column on March 21 - Chihuri said he needed to spend Z$5 trillion (£125m) to get his force up to strength, re-trained and re-equipped.
It is not known whether he has yet sourced all or part of that money. But the Central Bank of Zimbabwe has a simple method to finance projects which are deemed urgent. It just prints the money.”

With an inflation rate of about 1,700%, Zimbabwe dollars are essentially worthless in the currency market, after all who would trade for a Zimbabwe dollar outside of Zimbabwe when it is worth less than what you paid for it a minute after you took possession?
For the people of Zimbabwe it’s a different matter, the money is legal tender, which means they are required by law to accept the currency or face the consequences, probably jail or death.

Classically Liberal says, “There is no end to the destruction that government can impose on it’s own people.” He has more information on how Mugabe is robbing his country blind besides inflation.

Ron Paul On WNYM Internet Radio

Ron Paul will be a guest on a new internet radio show this Thursday, March 29th hosted by Free New York’s Jim Ostrowski.

This is Jim’s first show on Buffalo and Western New York’s first 24 hour all local talk, sports and music internet radio station, WNYM.

The show runs from 1:00-2:00PM, Ron Paul will be on at 1:30

There was some technical difficulties that kept most of the show off the Internet, but the show went on and the Podcast is now available.

The Revolutionary Candidate

No one quite knows what to do about Congressman Ron Paul, Republican candidate for president.

He refuses to play by the rules. He’s a bigger supporter of the free market than anyone in Congress, but he’s also the most consistent opponent of war. (That the conjunction of these positions – which amount to classical liberalism in a nutshell – should actually seem surprising or odd goes to show how perverse our political system has become.)

Other than Dennis Kucinich, he is the only authentic antiwar candidate in either party. He has won so many awards from the National Taxpayers Union that he’s probably lost count. CNET rated him the best out of all 435 congressmen in the House of Representatives on issues relating to the Internet. There is no more reliable civil libertarian in Congress than Ron Paul.

His conduct, moreover, is beyond reproach. Lobbyists don’t even bother going to his office. If their scheme doesn’t fall among the federal government’s enumerated powers under the Constitution, they know perfectly well that there is no chance Ron Paul will support it.

Chavez Collectivizes, Hillary Takes Notes

As Venezuelan’s are starving for staple food items, El Presidente Hugo Chavez continues to squander his country’s oil wealth and bloviate about his new socialist reforms, promising to replace the evil old capitalist concept of private property with the good old Communist concept of collective property.
Under the new system, workers will share the profits from state-financed cooperatives. Chavez says, “It’s property that belongs to everyone and it’s going to benefit everyone.”
Obviously Chavez hasn’t heard that the Pilgrims tried that for awhile way back when in North America and everybody starved, but hey, take a Utopian idea that’s failed in every country since forever and put a new guy in charge and it’ll work this time. Right?

The International Herald Tribune says, “Chavez — a leftist former paratrooper popularly known as “El Comandante” — said his government fully respects private property, but pledged to replace capitalist ideals with socialist principles on cooperatives such as cattle ranches and farms.”, and Chavez is going to “expropriate large ranches and farms spanning more than 300,000 hectares (740,000 acres) and redistribute lands deemed “idle” to the poor under a nationwide agrarian reform.”

Does anyone detect a bit of hypocrisy in those statements? How do you respect private property and at the same time vow to expropriate (steal) private property? Sadly it sounds similar to what we call eminent domain in the United States, which has been turned into a scheme to steal private property and redistribute it for political purposes.

Thomas DiLorenzo reports on LRC that the Maryland State Legislature (Nanny Commies) is about to pass a statewide ban on smoking in all bars and restaurants.

“One of the local news channels this morning reported from an American Legion hall (which wants to be exempted) and came up with this great quote from a crusty old Korean War veteran with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other: “This is communism. It’s what they did in Russia. I didn’t fight for my country to come home and live under communism!”"

“Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton slammed private-school voucher proposals yesterday, predicting that vouchers would eventually lead to the creation of taxpayer-financed white supremacist academies - or even a government-funded “School of the Jihad.””

“First family that comes and says ‘I want to send my daughter to St. Peter’s Roman Catholic School’ and you say ‘Great, wonderful school, here’s your voucher,’” Clinton said. “Next parent that comes and says, ‘I want to send my child to the school of the Church of the White Supremacist …’ The parent says, ‘The way that I read Genesis, Cain was marked, therefore I believe in white supremacy. … You gave it to a Catholic parent, you gave it to a Jewish parent, under the Constitution, you can’t discriminate against me.”

“So what if the next parent comes and says, ‘I want to send my child to the School of the Jihad? … I won’t stand for it.”

After all, how is Hillary going to run her communal village and raise good little socialists if she doesn’t own your money and your children’s minds. Yes, I can see her wisdom, give parents a choice where they want to send their kids to school and before you know it, White Supremacist and Jihadist schools will be popping up all over the place to meet the demand. And you know what that means, there goes the workers paradise neighborhood.

Here’s a better idea for education, no Hillary and no government schools:
